Zain honors winners of fifth Ideal Mother Award

Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, participated in honoring the winners of the Ideal Mother Award for Intellectual Disabilities. The company strategically partnered with the fifth edition of the award, organized by Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center, which aimed at shedding light on the distinguish efforts of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities.

Zain took part in the honoring ceremony, which witnessed the attendance of the Honorary President of Kuwait Disabled Sports Club Shaikha Shaikha Abdullah Al Sabah, Chairperson of Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center Sabeeka Al Jaser, Director of the Ideal Mother Award Aisha Al Salem, Bahraini poet Fathiya Ajlan, as well as a number of prominent personalities from the Special Needs sector.

Through the event, Zain participated in honoring 19 distinguished mothers who showed dedication and determination to raise and develop their children with intellectual disabilities. The winners were from Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Lebanon.

Zain’s strategic partnership of this annual event came in line with its support of the various social causes that are of interest to all segments of the society, especially within the special needs sector. The company is keen on reinforcing its partnerships with the many public and private entities that cater to people with special needs and their families within the local community all year round.

The Ideal Mother Award, held for the fifth consecutive year, mainly aimed at shedding light and recognizing the most distinguished and dedicated individual efforts of mothers who cared for and developed their children with intellectual disabilities. The organizing committee selected 19 distinguished mothers from across Kuwait, the GCC, and the Arab region, and formally honored and recognized them during the special event held recently.

Zain constantly shoulders initiatives that work towards enhancing the society’s welfare, especially within the special needs sector. Zain’s long-term cooperation with the various private and public entities that cater to people with special needs springs from its belief in the importance of having a positive print by supporting and launching initiatives that cater to various interests of the community.

Zain dedicates a great part of its Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategy towards people with special needs. During 2016, the company inaugurated “Zain Lab” in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor’s Career Rehabilitation Department. The fully equipped computer lab offers people with special needs the needed equipment and necessary training for them to explore job opportunities that suit their specific needs in both the public and private sectors. The initiative also aims at empowering people with special needs to be more productive and active members of the Kuwaiti society.

The company also participates in the annual celebration of the International Day of People with Special Needs on December 3rd of every year. This United Nations sanctioned day aims at celebrating the capabilities of people with special needs and their families in a family-oriented atmosphere. Zain also holds annual visits to people with special needs at the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Care Centers throughout many occasions each year.
