The director general of King Abdul Aziz port said that the line is for sea shipping and to encourage trade exchange between King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and Umm Qasr in Iraq, “the direct shipping line between Saudi Arabia and Iraq started work since early March and achieved positive results and indicators”. He added.

The port will be a main station for Umm Qasr port because of the easy procedures and its near location. Al-Naim confirmed.

He pointed out that the operation of container ships will be carried out via the third and fourth generation shipping lines, due to the difficulty of receiving large container ships at Umm Qasr port
