US President Donald Trump said that Qatar is a historic supporter of terrorism, calling on the Gulf states and neighboring countries to take further measures to combat terrorism.
Trump added at a press conference at the White House that the State of Qatar is a historic financier of terrorism at a very high level.
While US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, called on Saudi Arabia and its regional allies to ease the blockade on Qatar, claiming that the blockade is beginning to lead to humanitarian crises.
“We see a shortage of food, families are forced to separate, and children are forced to stop studying,” Tillerson said, stressing that the current conflict negatively affects cooperation in the region to combat terrorism as well as the activity of US companies in the region.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and Libya have cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar and have called on residents and visitors to leave.
